Walk Turda Gorge

Nature Reserve, founded in 1938, of botanical, zoological, geological and landscape significance, being a national as well as a Natura 2000 site. Within the reserve there have been identified over 990 species of plants, 110 species of birds, mammals and reptiles. The surface of the protected area is 324 ha. The length of the gorge is 1270 m. The height of the walls is roughly 250 m. Over 100 km of marked hiking paths. You can also rock climb on the 200 m high walls. Respect and protect this wonder of nature!

Rare end endangered plants
Allium obliquum (twisted-leaf onion), besides Cheile Turzii, found only in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Russia;
Ferula sadleriana, endemic to the Carpathian Basin, found in Slovakia (5 locations), Hungary (2 locations), and Romania (one location, in Cheile Turzii).
Rare and endangered animals
Aquila chrysaetos (Golden eagle), one of the most powerful predator birds in the world.
Lutra lutra (Eurasian otter), a semiaquatic carnivorous mammal, that eats fish and invertebrates.
Colias myrmidone, a sparse type of butterfly.
